Amarillo College was established in 1929, and currently offers a variety of technical programs and associate degree programs to students across the Texas Panhandle. Amarillo College is a two-year public community college located in Amarillo, Texas. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), subject to Chapter 130 of the Texas Education Code, governed by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and subject to the Texas Open Meetings Act and Texas Public Information Act, as well as a host of other statutes, rules, and regulations. Local governance rests on a nine-member elected Board of Regents. College leadership consists of the President, Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart, and a nine-member President’s Cabinet.
